I love loading up my meals with nutrients..including my smoothies. It’s the quickest, easiest way to get the most health benefits and as a mom of 2 toddlers, I need quick and easy!

I’ve been making Matcha Maca Lattes (say that 3 times fast) for a while now and have enjoyed the benefits, especially in boosting my energy. Lately I’ve been using these ingredients to make an amazing nutrient-dense smoothie perfect for starting the morning with a great boost of energy or a delicious snack to combat the afternoon slump. I’ve been asked quite a bit recently if Matcha and Maca are the same thing…I know they sound very similar, but they are, in fact, very different.

Matcha is a relatively well-known green tea boasting some big health benefits – high in antioxidants, boosts memory and concentration, increases energy levels and endurance, calms the mind and relaxes the body, burns calories, detoxifies the body, loaded with catechin EGCg, fortifies the immune system, and improves cholesterol levels. It is found in powdered form and is the highest quality of green tea, harvested from nutrient-rich young leaves and ground into a fine powder before being stored away from light and oxygen to preserve the integrity of its antioxidant properties, as visible in it’s bright green hue.

Maca is a nutrient-dense Peruvian root also found in powdered form. Naturally high in minerals like calcium (it has more than milk!), potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, and zinc; as well as sterols (6), up to 20 essential fatty acids, lipids, fiber, carbohydrates, protein, and amino acids. WOW! This powerful tuber is a natural antioxidant, boosts the immune system, improves energy levels, memory, and mood; and aids in hormonal systems – controlling estrogen levels to improve symptoms of PMS and menopause, increasing libido, and improving fertility.

These two super ingredients definitely pack an energy boosting punch! But wait…there’s more. I also add Moringa, an antioxidant rich plant that lowers blood sugar levels, reduces inflammation, and is full of nutrients. Check out this post for more info on the benefits of Moringa – The final ingredients are Vanilla Protein powder, fiber, flax seeds, coconut oil, banana, and hemp milk. Yep, this is one STACKED smoothie. Not only will it get you energized to start your day or find that second wind, but this delicious smoothie will keep you feeling full, sexy, and healthy. Check out the recipe below and let me know how it helps you accomplish your day.
